Paco Rojas is from Ubrique (Cádiz). He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Seville and in 1993 he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Granada with a specialty in Art Conservation. In 1999, after finishing his university studies and Arts and Crafts, he moved to Barcelona, where he worked for 10 years in design, while continuing to paint. In 2011 he returns to Ubrique and decides to leave everything to devote himself fully to his artistic career. In 2013 he is selected to attend a course with the spanish artist Eduardo Naranjo in Mocejón (Toledo).
From the onset, he has not stopped working and receiving awards. In the last two years alone, he has won more than thirty outdoor painting prizes. This year he won four prizes, in Cadiz, Málaga and Granada.
On the national level, his greatest achievements have been with dry painting contests. He obtained the second place in the prestigious "National Air Force Painting Award 2017", awarded by the former Minister of Defense, Mrs. Maria de Cospedal and the Chief of the Spanish Air Force, Javier Salto. He was also selected among 3000 participants worldwide in the 9th edition of "Figurativas 2017", a renowned figurative art contest organized by the Foundation of Arts and Artists (MEAM - European Museum of Modern Art).
In the online gallery (see below) you will find a selection of artworks done throughout Spain in various plein air painting competitions. Although initially he only used charcoal, he has gradually added, or rather combined, the use of other materials, such as: paper, dissolvents, acrylics, etc giving his artwork a singular vision, in which the artist’s intention is that the viewer encounter different windows through which he can see exactly what Paco was experiencing and feeling at that moment, in that place.
